RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH ANNOUNCES REOPENING DATE
Doors open Tuesday, June 9, at 9 a.m.
PITTSBURGH—June 3, 2020—Rivers Casino Pittsburgh announced today that it will reopen on Tuesday, June 9, at 9 a.m. Rivers Casino temporarily suspended operations on March 15, ahead of the governor’s orders, to help slow the spread of COVID-19. All U.S. casinos closed soon thereafter. The reopening of Rivers Casino Pittsburgh has been planned in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
At reopening, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh will have new hours of operation: weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. and round-the-clock on weekends starting Fridays at 9 a.m. through Mondays at 4 a.m.
The downtime will be used for property-wide deep cleaning in addition to continuous sanitizing throughout each day. That’s just one of many new operating procedures that Rivers Casino will be undertaking to comply with the PGCB’s new COVID-19 Casino Reopening Protocols.
Masks will be required for guests and Team Members. A complete list of gaming floor modifications and safety precautions—introduced to help protect guests and Team Members—will be announced prior to reopening and published on the casino’s website.
“Our team had already been working on making the changes announced by the PGCB in May,” said Rivers Casino General Manager Bill Keena. “We intend to meet or exceed all requirements to provide a healthy environment. The safety and well-being of our Team Members, our guests and the community are our top priority. We’re eager to welcome our friends and neighbors back to Rivers.”
To comply with state guidelines and promote social distancing, Rivers Casino will be limiting restaurants and gaming floor capacity to 50% occupancy until further notice. The casino will manage occupancy via a customer counter at both entrances.
Valet Parking, the Poker Room, Grand View Buffet and The Event Center are not scheduled to reopen at this time. Martorano’s Prime and Mian, two new restaurants planned for Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, are delayed with opening dates yet to be announced. Construction of The Landing Hotel remains on hold.
The majority of Rivers’ gaming floor, including the popular BetRivers Sportsbook, will reopen. Wheelhouse Bar & Grill, Ciao, Drum Bar, Spiral Bar and FLIPT will reopen with limited hours of operation.
Operations at BetRivers.com online sportsbook and casino, presented by Rivers Casino Philadelphia, were unaffected by the property shutdown and continue to operate 24/7.
The phased reopening of Rivers Casino Pittsburgh means that more than half of Rivers’ approximately 1,700 Team Members will return for now.
